Obituary: Kurt Ernst Muench

Kurt Ernst Muench, January 14, 1970 - June 27, 2011, resident of Carson City, passed away while enjoying a beautiful summer evening cruise on his motorcycle over Monitor Pass in the Sierra Nevada. Kurt was born in Glendale, Calif., and after eight years in the Midwest, his family returned west to the Carson Valley to be closer to his extended family. He was an accomplished carpenter, with much of his work around Lake Tahoe restoring and constructing lakefront homes. Kurt was also a dedicated student, pursuing his degree in Construction Management at Western Nevada College.

Kurt was deeply loved by his mother Patti Merriner, her partner Patrick Williams, and his father Heiko Muench and stepmother Ronda Muench. He will forever be remembered by his three sisters Sonja Crim, Natasha Boland and Rachael Sybrant, two brothers Heiko Muench, Jr. and Trevor Muench, grandmother Ruth Merriner, uncles Richard and Wayne Merriner, and aunt Audrey Lee. Kurt will be missed by his fiance Maritza Vargas and her daughters Glenda and Leilani. Countless other cousins, nieces, family and friends who were lucky to know him will always remember his vibrant smile and infectious laughter.

Kurt loved cooking for friends and family, fishing, skiing, and riding his motorcycle. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9 at FitzHenry's Funeral Home, 3945 Fairview Drive, Carson City. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Capital Christian Center.
