Plane leaving Carson City crashes into Utah backyard; pilot has minor injuries

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) - A pilot is suffering minor injuries after his small plane lost power and plummeted into a Utah backyard.

ABC News 4 of Salt Lake City reports the 56-year-old man was flying from Carson City to Georgia Sunday afternoon and lost power.

Authorities say the pilot was trying to glide into an airport in southern Utah but didn't have enough altitude to make the move and crashed into the yard in Cedar City.

He had minor head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City.

Nobody on the ground was hurt.
