130 YEARS AGO

History of Nevada: T.H. Thompson was in the city exhibiting some of the steel engravings and wood cuts which will illustrate the History of Nevada. When people were shown the artwork, a good many who failed to subscribe began to wish they had taken more stock in the book.

Carson High School graduates: The closing exercises brought more ability and brilliancy to the front than on similar occasions. Photo caption: Construction is a major item in Carson City. The Arlington Hotel is being remodeled into a casino type operation. The Arlington for years was a center of Carson City hospitality and social events.

Educators are pleased with classroom size. This year's session made a step forward in educational reform mandating a new teacher-student ratio for second and third grade - 16-1 student-teacher ratio.

10 YEARS AGO
