Cooking demo today at the Farmers Market

A cooking demonstration by Downtown 3rd & Curry Streets Farmer's Market Manager Linda Marrone will feature an easy and delicious salad with everything available from the market. Market music is Ricky D.

Xeriscaping seminar today

David Ruf, owner of Greenhouse Garden Center, will present "Xeriscaping With Native Plants," at 9 a.m. today at the center. He will discuss creating a Great Basin garden that is drought tolerant and low maintenance. Reservations are not required.

Guest speaker Mike Campie, owner for Campies Lavender Patch, will present "All About Lavender," 9:30 a.m. July 30 at the center. Campie is a local lavender grower who has developed some newer strains of lavender that perform very well in our Northern Nevada climate. He will also talk about making essential oil and soaps from lavender.
