130 YEARS AGO

St. Peters: The bell of St. Peter's Church has been subject to cracking and then gives a most doleful wailing. When this occurs, it has been the custom of the V&T shops to mend it free of cost at the railroad shops and thus, by standing in with the church, they found favor with the Lord. After its repair, the bell will ring from the steeple next Sunday.

State fair officials may be thinking of a move to Carson City. According to City Manager John Berkich, talks are "very preliminary" as they were contacted with a "conceptual what if" idea.
