Chinese teamsters have made their appearance at Winnemucca, but when their horses get balky they have to hire an American blasphemer to throw the necessary cuss words at the head of the beasts. They now have a proficient swearer on a regular salary whose work gives the best satisfaction. Fancy swearers and experts can get easily $100 a month.

100 YEARS AGO

At Lookout in Modoc county Calvin Hall, his three sons and a young man living with Hall were arrested for horse stealing. Last night the five men were taken from the sheriff by a mob of about fifty men and were hanged off a bridge near Lookout. Sheriff Street and District Attorney Bonner have gone to the scene of the hanging.

70 YEARS AGO

Lou Gehrig is dead. He would have been 38 on June 19.

50 YEARS AGO

Graduation from the largest senior class ever, 103, will take place this Friday night at Carson High School. Carson City attorney Paul Laxalt will give the commencement address.

Mills Lane is to be the featured speaker at Carson High School's 370-member class of 1991 graduation.

Sherrie Lee Harcourt and Richard Burton Brooks are married at Harvey's Wedding Chapel of Lake Tahoe.
