130 YEARS AGO

One good newspaper in a town is a benefit for the place. In the Free Press Bodie can boast of as good a newspaper as any town in the west. The Appeal reporter is informed the businessmen have determined to give no encouragement to two new newspapers in Bodie.

100 YEARS AGO

This evening the old Carson Opera House will open to the public as the Wigwam. It is the intention of management to have a first-class show every night of the week. The prices will be 10 and 20 cents. Aside from motion pictures, tonight there will be Reese and Alfrey Sisters, a comedy pair.

70 YEARS AGO

Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes predicted today that restrictions to the use of petroleum may be in force in the eastern U.S. In a month. No motor fuel may be available for pleasure driving.

50 YEARS AGO
