130 YEARS AGO

(Continued from Thursday) During this time Randolph's face going from white to red. "I was in Buckley's yard looking for terrapins. The terrapins belonged to me. I get them by express every week from San Francisco. Judge Hillyer and Bellknap are very fond of terrapin soup. Before I went to bed, I went out to look for them and they were all gone (laughter). I saw a moist trail in the grass and got a lantern. While I was on the hunt out comes Buckely with a club (loud laughter). (Continued Saturday).

100 YEARS AGO

The box elder trees of this section are afflicted with a pest that threatens destruction of some of the finest trees in this city. A small green louse is matted over each tree. An experiment with coal oil is being tried in Winnemucca. A small hole is bored downward into the tree and coal oil is poured in, killing or driving the bugs away.

70 YEARS AGO

Carson and Reno softball teams divided honors last evening. The Safeways of Carson defeated the Reno K.C. Boys and Reno Laundry outscored the Carson Rotary Club. Don Clark, playing his first game for Safeway, made a favorable impression.

50 YEARS AGO

Forty-five veterans of World War I met here last night to "vigorously oppose" the destruction and neglect of old graveyards. Veterans are also supporting the building of a veteran's hospital in Las Vegas.

20 YEARS AGO

Douglas commissioners will again consider an outdoor fair at the Round Hill Shopping Center.

10 YEARS AGO

The fate of the 9,300 year old Kennewick Man hangs in the balance.
