130 YEARS AGO

John W. Mackay left the Comstock for San Francisco last evening where he will remain for a few days before leaving for New York and thence to Paris. Mr. Mackay inspected the lower levels of the mine while here and expressed his satisfaction with the outlook. It is his intention to visit again in October.

The work of construction of the new court house in Lyon County at Yerington will commence this week. The Commissioners have settled on a site and the contractors on hand. It is believed that all the troubles are now over in Lyon.

Paul Manuel of Reno has been awarded the contract for constructing the building north of the Virginia & Truckee Railway and between Carson and Curry Streets for the Safeway Building.

Boxing will capture the Carson City sports spotlight for the first time in 13 months when promoter Ted Walker presents a 10-round bantamweight main event on July 12.
