Man sent to prison Monday in Sun Credit robbery

The second suspect in the botched robbery of a Carson City loan office was sent to prison on Monday.

Victor Hugo Gomez Cano, 37, received 12-48 months for attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

According to court document, in July the manager of Sun Credit, a personal loan company, had closed the business for the night and was sitting in her car when Christina Dawn Rodriguez, 41, pulled open the car door, punched the manager in the chest and grabbed a money bag off the seat.

The 98-pound manager, a former Carson City Jail employee, put up a fight, struggling with Rodriguez and Cano. While Cano was able to escape, the petite manager held Rodriguez until police arrived.

Rodriguez pleaded guilty in September to conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery and was sentenced to 24-48 months in prison.

The following also people appeared before Judge Todd Russell on Monday:

• Frank Calvin Lee Jenkins, 35, was sentenced to 12-30 months in prison to run concurrent with another sex offender failure to register case from 2009 where'd he'd been given probation.

• Robert Jorgenson, 30, was sentenced to 12-34 months in prison for possession of methamphetamine.

• Raymond John May Jr., 49, pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. A trial is set for May 24.

• Adrian Munoz, 24, pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon.

• Ricardo Mata-Lara, 18, pleaded not guilty to a charge of conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substance act. He allegedly sold methamphetamine to an undercover officer. A trial date was set for June 28.

• Albert Franklin O'Neal, 35, pleaded guilty to sex offender failure to register. He'll be sentenced April 18.

• Rafael Ledesma Garcia, 20, was sentenced to 12-48 months in prison for a charge of battery by a prisoner. He allegedly punched another inmate inside the Carson City Jail.

• Markoz Dominguez, 25, was given a suspended prison sentence of 12-48, with probation not to exceed three years on a charge of sale of a controlled substance.

• Jeira Polanco, 23, pleaded guilty to three counts of theft. She will be sentenced April 18.
