Public invited to watershed forum

The Carson Water Subconservancy District invites the public to attend the 2011 Carson River Watershed Forum, "Growing a Healthy Watershed," from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 22. The forum will be held at the state Capitol Building, Old Assembly Chambers, in Carson City.

Featured speakers will discuss topics such as growing a healthy river; growing a healthy water supply; growing healthy floodplains; growing healthy food; growing healthy landscapes; and not growing invasive species. Special luncheon guest speaker will be Assembly-man Kelly Kite.

"Growing a healthy family and growing a healthy watershed should be the goal of every person living in the Carson River Watershed," said Dan Kaffer, resource conservation and development coordinator.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and participate. This is an opportunity to share ideas and add a voice to public discussion. There is no charge to attend the forum, and lunch will be provided for all who pre-register.

To register or obtain additional information, contact the Carson Water Subconservancy District at 887-9005, or e-mail genie@cwsd.org.
