Lobbyists spend $31K in first month of Legislature

(AP) - Lobbyists spent more than $31,000 on Nevada lawmakers during the first month of the state Legislature.

Reports filed with the Legislative Counsel Bureau show the spending came from a small number of lobbyists and were largely for group activities.

The reports don't require detailed reporting of which legislators attended.

The biggest expense was from the Nevada Taxpayers Association, which reported spending more than $13,000 for hosting a legislative dinner.

Sixteen legislators received gifts of monetary value in February. The session started Feb. 7.

Republican Sen. Ben Kieckheferm of Reno reported the most - $187.50. He says it was for tickets for him and his wife to attend the Entrepreneur of the Year awards banquet, courtesy of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.
