DAV's 4th Annual Poker Run

DAV stands for Disabled American Veterans. My gratitude goes out to our amazing local chapters for their quiet efforts and programs that continue to provide for our disabled veterans of war. The Reno and Carson City chapters will host their 4th annual Poker Run April 9. Grab your leathers, start your American-made Harleys and head out to this event. 10th Annual Life Cycle Ride

I am simply in awe of Dove Zugarramurdi. I can't fathom ever trying to make this ride. Dove got another "wow" when I learned she is 65 years young and is headed out on this trek because she is committed to bringing awareness to the AIDS pandemic. I think driving the 545 miles is phenomenal but to ride a bike sounds intimating. I realize however that Dove Zugarramurdi doesn't understand the word, "can't." She needs help in raising funds so I have included the website to help her help others.

WHAT: 10th Anniversary Ride to End AIDS - The Experience of a Lifetime

WHEN: June 5-11

WHERE: San Francisco, Santa Cruz, King City, Paso Robles, Santa Maria, Lompoc, Ventura and finally Los Angeles; 545 miles of hard terrain.

WEBSITE: www.aidslifecycle.org. Select" Find a participant" and put Dove Z then push "Donate to support Dove"

PROCEEDS BENEFIT: HIV/AIDS medical care, re-search, innovative programs, counseling and housing.
