(AP) - Nevada employers would not be required to pay workers overtime for hours worked in excess of eight hours a day under a bill pending in the state Legislature.
Sen. James Settelmeyer says he is sponsoring SB332 on behalf of employees.
The online publication Nevada News Bureau reports the Minden Republican says workers told him they want more flexibility in their schedules.
The bill would retain overtime at time-and-half pay for working more than 40 hours in one week.
Restaurant owners and the Nevada Taxpayers Association testified in support of the bill during a hearing Monday before the Senate Commerce, Labor and Energy Committee.
Labor groups opposed the measure.
No action was taken by the committee.
