Kick Butts Day today at Legislature

The Students Taking on Prevention club is taking its message to the Legislature today in recognition of Kick Butts Day, which is a national program of youth leaders standing up, speaking out and seizing control of the harmful effects of tobacco use.

This year the STOP youth also are sharing their prevention message about the harmful effects of alcohol, marijuana and suicide. The youth will share their message through a dramatization of a memorial service in front of the Legislature building depicting how negative choices could end in death. The dramatizations will be at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Minden lawmakers Sen. James Settelmeyer and Assemblyman Kelly Kite will recognize the club with a joint proclamation supporting the STOP students' efforts to empower their peers and community to make a difference.
