130 YEARS AGO

A pestilence breeder: The sewer on Second Street has been repaired, but for the last two months was found to be the cause of six cases of typhoid fever. The physicians of Carson agree upon the fact that the defective sewer caused the sickness in its vicinity.

120 YEARS AGO

Petrified woman: Now on exhibition in Carson City is a very peculiar woman who was dug up a Tuolumne County, Cal. She was brought here in a box and when it came down on the train, the men thought it was a corpse. Scientists who have examined it put the age of the petrification at over 1,000 years. However, the arm was broken by accident in moving it from the depot and Miller was sent for to fix it. He was a trifle bashful at first, but finally succeeded in putting the lady in proper shape for exhibition.

70 YEARS AGO

1961 Freshmen Officers: Election of officers of graduating eighth grade class was conducted. The following will take office when they enter in the fall: Kirby Clendenon, President; Robert Shriver, Vice President, Dawn Fairbanks, Secretary, Linda Doty and Pat Franklin, board of control.
