Woman accused of attempting to sell stolen property

A 20-year-old unemployed woman was arrested Thursday after she allegedly stole jewelry from her family and tried selling it at a Carson City pawn shop.

Annemarie "Bozin" Pura and a male friend tried to pawn a gold bracelet with more than 20 pearls and two platinum rings without the stones, which amounted to a $155 offer from the pawn shop.

When Pura gave the pawn shop employee her identification, her name appeared in a database and signaled she may have stolen jewelry from her family.

The employee recognized some of the jewelry, told another employee to call the sheriff's office and stalled Pura and her friend until deputies could arrive.

Pura's friend fled the scene when deputies arrived and was last scene getting into a purple Ford Taurus near Deer Run Road.

Pura was arrested at 5:24 p.m. on the 5900 block of Highway 50 E., on suspicion of attempted selling of stolen property, a felony.

Bail was set at $25,000.
