Richard F. Edling Jr, 87, passed away May 11, 2011, in Carson City. A native of St. Paul, Minn., he was born Oct. 8, 1923, and lived in southern California from 1936 to 1959. He was a resident of Douglas County for 52 years, having lived at Lake Tahoe from 1959 to 1979 and Gardnerville from 1979 to 2011.
No funeral is scheduled. He will be inurned in Sunnyside Mausoleum in Long Beach, Calif.
Richard was a veteran of World War II. He served in the South Pacific with five combat missions in the 24th Infantry Division. Following the war he was a self-employed public accountant.
He is survived by one son, Michael, daughter-in-law, Carol of Douglas County, and a granddaughter, Krista of Hawaii.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of final arrangements.
