The Eagles Lodge No. 1006 donated $785 to the Carson City Sheriff's Office D.A.R.E. Program.

The funds were raised from a spaghetti dinner and dessert auction sponsored by the Carson City Nugget and R & D Construction, along with gifts made by individual members.

"We wanted to start keeping our monies and contributions local," said Eagles secretary Doug Sausedo. "We donated to Safe Grad. The Carson City Sheriff's Office D.A.R.E. Program was next on our list. It is important for us as a community to support youth as they learn to make good decisions."

"We are fortunate to have the support from our community for D.A.R.E. and all of our Cops and Kids Program," said Sheriff Ken Furlong. "We thank the Eagles Lodge for their donation which will be spent on our youth programs. Our children are our future. We need to support and help them make good decisions and even help them when they make a poor choice. We have all made mistakes and yet, we all somehow turn out OK. Our children need that same opportunity."

These funds will be used to help purchase D.A.R.E.

T-shirts for next school year.
