Donate old cell phones to troops

May is Military Appreciation Month, and residents can show their patriotism and pride by donating their old cell phones to help the troops call home.

In 2010, the Veterans and Family Memorial Care organization providers nationwide collected enough old cell phones to provide the troops with more than a million free calling minutes.

The goal for 2011 is two million free minutes. Each phone provides one hour of free talk time allowing the nation's heroes to stay connected with family and friends back home.

People can drop off cell phones locally at Walton's Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop St.
