Experiments: The man who tried to explain away his chicken-stealing experiments and felt it his duty to thin out the over-crowded hen-coops - for the sake of giving them better ventiliation - had his board paid for 90 days by an appreciative community.

120 YEARS AGO

Elephants and oranges: A gentleman from California proposes to start an elephant farm and says the article of food, the elephant, is superior to the horse; African explorers are all profuse in the praises of elephant steak. He expects to supply the market with elephant meat and also to train the animals to pick oranges. An elephant would pick more oranges than 10 men, never strike for higher wages or flirt with the hired girl.

70 YEARS AGO

Nevada Courts: The Nevada supreme court issued an order admitting to the practice of law the following applications: Richard L. Waters of Carson City, Robert Emmet Berry of Virginia City and Harvey D. Dickerson of Reno.

Matt Williams: 1983 Carson High School graduate Matt Williams became a World Series champion. Williams and the Arizona Diamondbacks dethroned the New York Yankees 3-2 in Game 7 of the World Series. No one could have been prouder than his father Arthur Williams and his former coach, Ron McNutt.
