John Ascuaga's Nugget, Castaway Trash Hauling and Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful said last week they recycled 20 tons of material from this year's Best in the West Rib Cook-off. The result was a 33 reduction in the amount of trash that was sent to a landfill compared with the previous year.
More than 18,000 pounds of organic material was transported to RT Donavan Enterprises, a composting facility in Spanish Springs, and approximately 22,000 pounds of cardboard and glass were processed and transported to recycling facilities.
