AGC recognizes for companies for excellence in construction work

Four construction companies in northern Nevada won Pinnacle Awards in the 13th annual showcase sponsored by the Nevada Chapter of the Associated General Contractors.

Winners included:

* Martin Iron Works (specialty contractor). The company was recognized for excellence in client services among jobs valued at less than $500,000 for its work to renovate outpatient mental facilities for the VA in Reno.

* JW McClenahan Co. (specialty contractor). The company was recognized for meeting the challenge of a difficult job valued at more than $500,000 for its replacement of a boiler at South Lake Tahoe High School.

* Granite Construction (general contractor): The company was recognized for meeting the challenge of a difficult job valued at more than $5 million for its work in the Truckee River Canyon. The company also received the AGC Partnering Award for its work to widen U.S. 395 between Moana Lane and Interstate 80.

* Q&D Construction (general contractor). The company was recognized for its sensitivity to the environment, history and culture in projects valued at less than $5 million for its work at Thunderbird Lodge. It was honored for excellence in project management in jobs valued at more than $5 million for its work on I-80 between Painted Rock and Fernley. It was recognized for excellence in client services in jobs valued at less than $5 million for its work on the Saint Mary's cardiovascular suite. It won a merit award for meeting the challenge of a difficult job valued at more than $5 million for its reconstruction of Idaho Street in Elko. And Q&D won a Partnering Award for its work on I-80 at Painted Rock.
