California teenager killed in vehicle rollover in Fernley

RENO (AP) - An 18-year-old California woman was killed after she was ejected from a Jeep Grand Cherokee while traveling on a rural Nevada road.

Taylor Barney died during the Wednesday accident near Fernley.

The driver, 18-year-old Kevin Mass, and another passenger, 19-year-old Max Talbott, sustained minor injuries in the single vehicle crash.

The teenagers were all residents of Grass Valley, Calif.

The crash occurred after Mass allowed the SUV to drift toward the center median. As he tried to correct the vehicle's course, the Jeep entered a broadside skid before rolling over several times.

The Nevada Highway Patrol believes alcohol could be a contributing factor in the crash.
