Fundraiser benefited Hungry Kids Healthy Foods

Non-profit Hungry Kids Healthy Foods held its first fundraising barbecue and raffle event on Oct. 16, hosted by New Washoe Bar in Washoe Valley. The money raised will be used to buy healthy nutritional foods for the Ron Wood Family Resource Food Pantry in Carson City.

Hungry Kids founder Tim Salyer said the fundraiser was successful, and raffle prizes and gift certificates were donated by businesses in Carson City, Reno and Washoe Valley.

Hungry Kids Healthy Foods is a non-profit 50(c)(3) organization aiming to enhance community awareness of the nutritional needs of children in need. To that end, Hungry Kids raises money to buy healthy, nutritional alternatives to the staples often supplied by food pantries.

Salyer said he would like to reach out to local business groups, churches and community organizations and ask them to consider Hungry Kids as a recipient of donations.
