IHOP victim receives posthumous promotion

The Nevada National Guard announced this morning that IHOP shooting victim, National Guard soldier Christian Riege has been posthumously promoted to the rank of master sergeant.

Guard spokesman Sgt. 1st Class Erick Studenicka said Riege's promotion was retroactively effective Tuesday.

Riege, 38, and four other members of the Nevada National Guard were among 11 people gunned down in a shooting at the south Carson City restaurant Tuesday morning.

Gunman Eduardo Sencion, 32, then turned the gun on himself.

Also killed were Sgt. 1st Class Miranda McElhiney, 31, Maj. Heath Kelly, 35 and Florence Donovan - Gunderson, 67.
