Appointees to economic development board announced

Gov. Brian Sandoval and legislative leaders have made their appointments to the board charged with developing strategies to diversify the state's economy.

Sandoval's appointees are Rob Roy of Switch in Las Vegas, William Weidner of Gaming Asset Management and lawyer Kathleen Drakulich.

Assembly Speaker John Oceguera named Heather Murren of the Nevada Cancer Institute and Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford appointed Ben Yerushalmi of Jewelers of Nevada. Senate Minority Leader Mike McGinness chose Sam Routsen of Winnemucca Farms as his appointee.

"We worked hard to create an entirely new and results-oriented economic development model through this legislation and today we have taken another step that will deliver the results we need," said Oceguera.

Horsford said the appointees "represent some of the best and brightest minds in our state."

McGinness described the board as presenting a rare opportunity to help businesses in Nevada grow and bring new employers to the state.
