Flume history: John S. Hittell is soliciting information on the V-Flume (which is used in sending wood, timbers and lumber down from the mountains). In the investigation Mr. Spooner seems entitled to the honor of this important invention... A trough, either V shaped or square, used as a slide with a current of water has been used from for conveyance of timber...

New York: a lad only four years old died last week of alcohol poisoning... He had been entrusted by his father to carry home a bottle of whiskey and on the way tippled until he became dazed and finally unconscious. Some boys in Carson who are not much older do this and don't even become dazed... There ought to be a stop put to it.

We would like a new flag for the new post office... sometime when the U.S. Government has an abundance of cash... The flag is dwindling away like the sport's sack at the pool box.

The Mills Park Events center beat out 77 other projects to win the American Institute of Architect's 1991 Honors Award for an unbuilt project by a Nevada architect... Architects with the Henry Clark Group created a model of the structure for the competition...
