Obituary: Augustine "Gus" Nazarro

Augustine "Gus" Nazzaro passed away peacefully with family at his side on September 16th in Carson City, Nevada, after a memorable and productive 89 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy (Dotty) Scauzillo Nazzaro, two brothers and one sister. He is survived by two daughters, Adeline Lindley (Thomas) of St. Pete Beach, Florida, as well as Catskill, New York, Patricia Pirozzi (Vincent) of Carson City, Nevada, one granddaughter, Jaime Lyn Pirozzi of San Francisco, California, and four beloved great grand pets, Darcy, Gracie Jayne, Chewy and George.

Gus was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was married and resided on Long Island, New York. He and his brother owned a heavy equipment construction company for 30 years. One of their major projects was on the Verrazano Bridge from New York to Staten Island. He and Dotty retired to St. Pete Beach, Florida. Gus had been staying with his daughter, Patti, in Carson City.

"Lefty Gus" graduated from James Madison High School in Brooklyn, New York, where he was their varsity baseball star pitcher and led his team to championships both his junior and senior years. Gus was an avid New York baseball and football fan.

He will always be remembered for his quick wit and warm smile that were a blessing and comfort to those close to him.

A memorial service will be held Monday, October 3, 2011 at 1:00pm at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
