'Chicken Wing King' brings new event to Carson City

Get ready to wing it in Carson City.

Best Western Carson Station Hotel Casino announces the Carson Station Wing Off, a chicken wing cook-off event, presented by the Great International Chicken Wing Society on Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in the Carson Station parking lot, 900 S. Carson Street in Carson City.

The event is being organized by W.R. "Willie" Davison, a.k.a. the "Chicken Wing King." Restaurants and bars will compete to see whose chicken wings reign, with attendees and tasters (Chicken Hawks) helping choose the winners, including a "People's Choice Award." Davison is well-known for his popular annual wing cookoff in downtown Reno.

Sample the best sauces, enjoy live music and DJ tunes, shop for arts and crafts and bring the kids for games and an affordable weekend of family fun. Then go inside the newly remodeled Carson Station Hotel Casino for cash giveaways and special promotions.

Admission is free to the Chicken Wing Off, and sampler plates start at $3. The Carson Station Wing Off winners will be crowned at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Schedule: Noon-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30; 10 a.m.-7p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1; and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, with awards presentation for the four best-tasting chicken wings at 2 p.m.
