Free acupuncture offered as stress relief after recent tragedies

Local acupuncturists Maureen Lamderdin, Maggie Tracey, David Edge and Stephanie Pavlik, Oriental medicine practitioners, are offering free community acupuncture treatments at St. Peter's Episcopal Church to help relieve stress and trauma for people after the IHOP shooting and air race disaster.

Auriculotherapy (ear acupuncture) will be the protocol used. Treatment time is approximately 30 to 45 minutes. There is no intake, no diagnosis and no talking after needles are inserted. Many people find they become relaxed and may fall asleep. Certified harp therapist Sable Shaw will be providing harp music.

Sessions in the St. Peter Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 314 N. Division St. are scheduled for today from 2-7 p.m., Oct. 4, Oct. 11 and Oct. 18 from 2-5:45 p.m.

Entrance is on the north side of the building.
