The Hunters: Z.F. Alley and H.B. Slocumb returned from a hunt in the wild regions of Rubicon. The deer and bear show no disposition toward cultivating a close relationship with the Winchester invention. They report Crawford, De Neuf, Davis, Ellis as "healthy and hearty." DeNuef had killed two deer, Crawford one, and Maish three.

120 YEARS AGO

Big race: W.S. Hobart, owner of the Lake View wood and lumber yard and flume and, the owner of "Steamboat," the fast stallion, has been challenged by the owner of "Nelson" to trot a race for $5,000 a side. "Steamboat" is the handsomest horse that every trotted in America.

70 YEARS AGO

Pardini Building: Floyd Walker and crew have been plastering the interior of Tom Pardini's building that will be occupied soon by the Cash Mercantile Co (now the location of the Basil Restaurant & Garibaldi's on Carson Street.)

50 YEARS AGO

Miss Carson City contest entry: Miss Mary Parmenter who is sponsored by the Shirley Sherwood Dance Studio is the first commercial entry in the Miss Carson City contest. Her talent will be a toe-tap routine. She is currently a student at Carson High School and head cheerleader.

20 YEARS AGO

Donald W. Reynolds, founder of the Donrey Media Group Inc., was honored on his 85th birthday with a proclamation from Governor Bob Miller. The proclamation calls Reynolds "a generous, hard-driving American pioneer" and "a great Nevada business and civic leader."

10 YEARS AGO
