Damonte nips Douglas, 3-2

MINDEN - It was tough for Douglas baseball coach Bruce Jacobsen to find any fault with his team after a 3-2 loss in extra innings to Damonte Ranch Saturday morning.

"The kids played hard," Jacobsen said. "Our pitcher gave us a great chance, the kids were hitting the ball hard, but it just seemed like every hard hit went straight at one of their guys.

"We hit some atom balls out there. There were chances, but we just couldn't knock guys in today."

Douglas got seven solid innings on the mound out of senior start Jackson Ketron, who struck out two and scattered four hits before exiting with one out in the eighth.

Damonte got a pair of runs in the fourth with a bases-loaded fielder's choice from Kyle Bailey, which scored pitcher Nate Nolan, and a Michael Moffitt RBI single.

From there, Ketron retired 10 of the next 13.

"Jackson has really done a great job these last two or three starts," Jacobsen said. "He gave us every chance to win."
