Impetus diversifies with acquisition

The Impetus Agency, a Reno firm that's developed a profitable niche providing marketing services to pet-products companies, is moving into yet another niche.

The company said last week it acquired Nexus Marketing Corp. of Reno. Terms weren't disclosed.

Nexus was sold by Beth Pohll, its founder and managing director. It provides Web and social-media marketing services mostly to companies that distribute promotional products and to business-printing companies.

Tierra Bonaldi, a principal in The Impetus Agency, said the acquisition came as the firm looked to diversify its services. Along with its strong presence in the pet-products industry, The Impetus Agency provides marketing and communications services to companies in northern Nevada. Julie Rowe also is a principal of the company.

Nexus Marketing, launched about a year ago, had grown so quickly that Pohll was exploring options to support further growth of the business.

Pohll will head the print services division of The Impetus Agency after the acquisition, and the Nexus Marketing brand will remain in use.

Among the backers of The Impetus Agency is NorthStar Investors, a holding company and private equity group headquartered in Reno.
