Silver State Charter School seeks OK for larger signage

The Silver State Charter School will request a special use permit from the Carson City Planning Commission when it meets at 5 p.m. Wednesday to increase the size of signage on the Fairview Drive property.

The school has decided that the signs for the campus will be more functional and better suited to commercial use standards than office standards.

The overall signage proposed is about 603 square feet. Commercial use allowed for the site would be 917 square feet.

Signs at the school will include a freestanding monument sign, 50 feet tall, with 50 square feet of signage, including an electronic message space of 24 square feet.

Planning staff evaluated the existing signage along the Fairview Drive corridor and determined that the proposed signage for the school would be in keeping with the area

The commission meets in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
