Obituary: Roger E. Porcella

Roger E. Porcella, 83, of Carson City, Nevada, died Monday, August 6, 2012 with his family at his side. Roger was born March 8, 1929 in Far Rockaway Long Island, New York, to Saverio and Carmela (Campana) Porcella. Roger married Audrey DeLuca, October 2, 1954 at St. Mary's Star of The Sea in Far Rockaway, NY. He was ordained a Deacon on December 8, 1979 by the late Bishop William Johnson in Orange County, CA. Roger and Audrey have lived in Carson City for the past twenty years, coming from Gold Beach, OR. Roger served as Deacon at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Dayton. He was also a member of The Knights of Columbus Maris Stella Council #378.

Roger is survived by his wife, Audrey, of Carson City; son, Roger, of Lawrence, NY; daughters, Carmela Porcella of Carson City and Mary Beth Martin of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Immaculata Carpenter of Haverstraw, NY. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann's in Dayton. Mass of the Resurrection will be Friday, August 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's in Dayton.
