Initial jobless claims rise

Initial claims for unemployment benefits in Nevada in July rose by 0.2 percent, ending a 31-month string of falling claims.

The Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation said it doesn't know if this is the start of a trend or just a one-time uptick, but it noted that new claims in the first week of August were down nearly 13 percent from a year ago.
