Washoe County will become part of Western Nevada Development District, increasing the district's membership to nine counties.
The district is a certified economic development district and can secure grants through the U.S. Economic Development Administration. It also has worked to develop economic development plans for northwestern Nevada.
Along with Washoe County, the district includes Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Humboldt, Lyon, Mineral, Pershing and Storey counties.
