Transitional housing available through FISH

Friends in Service Helping has notified local service organizations that it has transitional housing available for move-in. The homes are low-income housing for homeless families.

FISH is accepting applications at its administrative office at 138 E. Long St.

There are four qualifications:

• Applicant families must be homeless or facing homelessness.

• There must be a child or children in the family.

• At least one parent must work a minimum of 40 hours per week and earn minimum wage or more per hour.

• Applicants must have a favorable credit report.

No pets are allowed, and FISH has a no tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol on all of its properties.

Families can stay in the house up to two years. The housing units are located on Stewart Indian School property, and they are roomy and clean with spacious backyards.

Members of service groups who know of families who meet the requirements should have them come into the office to fill out an application.
