Park Place Assisted Living sold

Park Place Assisted Living in Reno has been acquired by The Ensign Group Inc. of Mission Viejo, Calif.

Washoe County records show the California company paid $2.1 million for the 60-unit assisted living center. It's at 2305 Ives Court in northwest Reno.

The Ensign Group acquired Park Place from Park Place Associates LLC, whose principals are Rebecca Dickson and Loth E. Lieberstein, M.D., both of Reno.

The property was 45 percent occupied at the time of the acquisition.

Christopher Christensen, president and chief executive officer of The Ensign Group, described the cash transaction as an "opportunistic acquisition."

In December, his company acquired the 99-bed Rosewood Rehabilitation Center, a skilled nursing facility at 2045 Silverada Blvd.

Christensen said his company expects to gain some operating efficiencies with its larger footprint in the Reno area.

He said the publicly held company is looking to make additional acquisitions, both of well-performing as well as struggling facilities that provide skilled nursing, assisted living and other healthcare services across the United States.

Ensign now owns 78 healthcare facilities in 10 states and operates 25 leased facilities.
