Maybe you can bat over the pyramids with a tallow candle, but you can't convince a woman that the railroad men are not brutal because they won't keep a train waiting for her to kiss her friends and say "good-by" for the twentieth time.

Yesterday two dentists in town lost a considerable sum to a professional thief who took all the gold accumulated in their work. The strange thing about the robbery was they did not take the fine gold used for fillings, thus overlooking several dollars worth of refined material.

70 YEARS AGO

Members of the Tuesday sewing club met at the home of Mrs. George Barker this week. After a pleasant evening of sewing, dainty refreshments were served. Miss Lillian Liles was awarded the traveling prize for the evening.

50 YEARS AGO

The bodies of two prominent Nevada businessmen were found in the wreckage of a private plane in desolate Monitor Valley, 40 miles northeast of Tonopah. The victims were Newton Crumley, a majority stockholder in the Reno's Holiday Hotel and E.J. Questa, a president of First National Bank of Nevada.

20 YEARS AGO

A recently-released national survey shows Nevadans paid the 12th highest annual premiums for auto insurance in the United States.
