Mayor Crowell to seek a second term

Bob Crowell said Tuesday morning he is going to seek a second term as Carson City mayor.

"After careful consideration I have decided to ask Carson City voters for a second term as Mayor of our city," Crowell said in an email to the Nevada Appeal. " We are blessed with a wonderful community, with citizens working every day to make Carson City a better place to live."

Crowell received 57.85 percent of the vote in the November 2008 election. He defeated Rev. Ken Haskins.

"Despite our challenges, over the past four years our City has seen the truck traffic reduced on Carson Street; the first running of the V&T railroad from Carson City to Virginia City since 1938; a new runway system at our airport; a producing greenhouse at our high school and flower baskets lining our main street; the acquisition of much of the Carson River banks in Carson City and many new trails and pathways for passive recreation; Broadway shows; Jazz Festivals; classic car shows and auctions; increased JAC ridership; the creation of the North/South water line between the counties of Douglas, Carson and Lyon; new welcoming signage for our City; sports events for visitors and locals alike and much, much more. I want to continue to be a part of those efforts."
