Man sought in Fernley shooting

A man with a gunshot to his lower back was found in the middle of Fernley's Main Street on New Year's Day.

The victim was taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno, where he underwent surgery to repair his spine and to remove bullet fragments.

During the ensuing investigation, Caleb Nesslage was arrested as one of two people in this shooting and was subsequently booked into Lyon County Jail.

The Fallon Police Department and the Churchill County Sheriff's Office helped with the case.

A criminal complaint was filed against Nesslage on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, battery with the intent to kill, and battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm.

A warrant of arrest has been issued for Andrew Bart Montenegro, also known as Albert Montenegro, whom police identified as the second suspect in the shooting.

Montenegro is considered armed and dangerous and is believed to be in Northern Nevada, officials said.
