Officials to review performance of, set goals for City Manager Werner

The Carson City Board of Supervisors will review the performance of City Manager Larry Werner when it meets Thursday and will establish goals and objectives for him for 2012.

The board is responsible for evaluating the city manager's performance annually and will review a list of projects and accomplishments.

A performance review rating shows that Werner either met or exceeded expectations in all but two areas out of more than 30 - leadership and board relations.

Supervisors also are expected to discuss or take action to:

• Award a contract for $1.5 million to Nelson Electric Co., Inc. for a solar photovoltaic project at the city's Wastewater Treatment Plant.

• Present a proclamation for National Radon Action Month for January.

• Present a proclamation for Catholic Schools Week in Carson City Jan. 29-Feb. 4.

• Present the remaining two Redevelopment Authority Citizen's Committee Miracle Worker awards to Comma Coffee and the Carrington Company.

• Recognize the contributions to the city of the Bureau of Land Management, Sierra Front District, Friends of the Silver Saddle Ranch and the U.S. Forest Service Carson Ranger District.

• Accept the annual activity report for administrative citations issued.

• Accept a recommendation designating the Seely Loop in Mills Park as the permanent location for the 9/11 World Trade Center Memorial.

• Appoint supervisors to various boards, committees and commissions.

• Hear an update and status report for 2011-12 initiatives.

• Authorize the city to enroll in the E-Verify system by providing the city's electronic signature for employment verifications.

Acting as the Redevelopment Authority, they are expected to discuss or take action to:

• Augment the authority's budget by $2.4 million.

• Elect a chair and vice chair for the authority to serve through Dec. 31.

• Appoint a member of the authority to serve on the authority's citizens committee.

After their morning meeting, supervisors will reconvene at 5:30 p.m. to appoint four members to the Carson City Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee and four members to the Parks and Recreation Commission.
