Genoa man plans trip to London Games

Robbe Lehmann is getting ready for what he calls "the trip of a lifetime."

In just a few days, he and his 6-year-old son, Jett, will leave Genoa for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

He was living in Salt Lake City during the 2002 Games, so he knows what kind of energy to expect in the city.

"I love the Olympics," he said. "It's a great place to go, both the events and everything else going on around there."

His boss at Big George Ventures will be renting a house in London and offered space to Lehmann and his son.

"Lodging is a big problem at any Olympics," Lehmann said. "When that got cleared out of the way, I had to go."

He said the two plan to attend a men's basketball game and some swimming events.

"We're pretty excited," he said.

He's most worried about the five-hour flight to Philadelphia, followed by seven more hours to London, with a 6-year-old boy.

"I'm hoping with enough iPads and Game Boys and every other electronic thing they have, he might be all right," Lehmann said. "But it's going to be interesting."

After four days in London, he and his son will go to Paris for a few days.

He's excited for the father-son adventure, but realizes he'll be hard pressed to impress his son after this.

"My friends say there's no way to top this one," he said.
