Obituary: Doreen Fae FitzHenry

Doreen Fae FitzHenry, long-time Carson City resident, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 19, at Sierra Place. She is survived by sons, Wayne and Norman Mareci, and Lester FitzHenry; grandchildren, Bill and Michelle Mareci, Lissell Archer, and Jeremiah and Jonas Schenzel; great-grandchildren, Drew, Jr. and Paul Archer; twin sister, Doris Dalluege; and brothers Blaine and Allyn Rieke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; brothers, Jack and Rodney Rieke; and daughter-in-law Kay FitzHenry.

Raised in Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois, Doreen came to Nevada in 1963. She and Ray moved to Carson City in 1972, when they purchased the Capital City Mortuary, eventually renaming it FitzHenry's Funeral Home.

An active member of the community, Doreen was a life member of the First United Methodist Church, and past president of United Methodist Women. She was also a life member of Soroptimist international, and president of SI/ Carson City from 1977 to 1979. She will be fondly remembered as a mentor to younger business and professional women, and as an advocate for the betterment of the city where she spent the happiest years of her life.

She was dearly loved and respected by all who knew her, and will be greatly missed.

Services are scheduled for 6:00 P.M. Thursday, June 21, at FitzHenry's Funeral Home, with a private burial Friday at Lone Mountain Cemetery. Donations to United Methodist Women and the Soroptimist International Carson City Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 794, Carson City 89702 are requested in lieu of flowers.
