Obituary: Harriett Anita dePauw (Young)

Harriett Anita dePauw was born August 11, 1920, to Harry & Christina dePauw, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the youngest of three girls, Merlin & Geraldine. Harriett is survived by her older sister Merlin of West Field, New Jersey. While attending college, she enjoyed playing the piano, organ, clarinet, oboe and riding horses.

Married at the age of 23 to Laurence S. Young, they moved to California after the birth of their first son, Gilbert, where they lived the rest of their lives. Harriett & Laurence increased their family with the birth of Harriett Alma, Nan Sherry, Elaine Christina and Gordon Paul Young. She was the grandmother to Harriett's 4 children, Steven, Tara, Harriett D. C., and Adam Bigley and to Elaine's 3 children, Serena, Roy and Spencer. She is the great-grandmother to Tara's daughter, Jessica; Serena's 2 children, Forrest and Samantha; and Harriet D.Cs 3 boys, Charlie, Brandon & Kaleb. Harriett also was an accomplished Arthur Murray dancer. She lived a long good life from August 11, 1920 until March 15, 2012 at 12:30pm. She was 91 years, 7 months young. Final internment in Fair Oaks, CA on Thursday, March 22, 2012.
