Clerical Row: George B. Allen, late Rector of St. Peter's Church and recently Rector of the Episcopal Church in Petaluma, Calif., has resigned. The Bishop got into a row about the kind of wine to be used at Communion. Such bickerings diminish the influence of the Church. We can scarcely believe that the Deity cares much whether carmine ink or pure imported port is used.

Pasturage: Kirman's ranch on Penitentiary road is unfit for pasturage as the contents of all the sewers in Carson and the Prison lodge are upon the premises.

70 YEARS AGO

Black Bomber: Joe Louis knocked out giant Abe Simon in the sixth round. Louis was fighting for the first time since he entered the army and achieved his knockout at 16 seconds of the sixth round.

50 YEARS AGO

Ed Jesse, previous coach at Lovelock, has been named head football coach at Carson High School for the coming year.

30 YEARS AGO

Home investing has a good future: Home equity accounts for about 40 percent of all recorded personal wealth. Statistics from the Nevada Association of Realtors show many properties have doubled in market value over the last ten years or less. The number of people in the prime home buying age group of 25 to 44 years will increase to 31 percent.

10 YEARS AGO

Trout hatched at the Nevada Division of Wildlife fish hatchery on the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area were released into the Carson River at Brunswick, Deer Run and Lloyd's Bridges. Of the trout release 2,500 were rainbow and 500 German brown trout.
