Hungry flock: H. A. Jones, the photographer, arrived here a few days ago and reports that a half starved band of goats strayed into Mammouth City, got into a quartz mill and devoured every casting in the place, stamps and all.

Salvation Army: A detachment will come to Lundy to knock the stuffing out of the devil with their horns and hollering. They will find a tough crowd but one that will be ready to listen if drinks come often. (Index)

Ration books: The Ormsby County rationing board has received 833 applications for users of sugar and 715 rationing books were issued. Chairman August Berning Jr. explained that one stamp is good for one pound of sugar within a specified period of time.

50 YEARS AGO

KOLO Television program (only one channel in 1962): National Velvet, Ripcord, Wagon Train, Checkmate, Dick Van Dyke Show, Naked City.

30 YEARS AGO

New films at Carson: Two films joined Carson City entertainment scene. "Partners," "Dragonslayer" and the "Sword and the Sorcerer" a science fiction epic. "On Golden Pond," a triple award winner is playing at Cinema 50 East.

10 YEARS AGO

Teacher of the Year for Douglas County will be chosen. Nominees are: Sherrie Jackson, Lee Miles, Theresa Eymann, Wendy Perra, Carly Kester, Justin Pruett, Carey Haws, Ernie Monfiletto, Susan Hoffman, Catherine Pellegrino, Debra McNeil and Dawn Caldwell-Rothfusz.
