Supervisors will discuss ballot question for new City Center plan

The main event when the Carson City Board of Supervisors meets this Thursday will be to discuss whether to have the city manager prepare a ballot question to fund a new Knowledge + Discovery Center and downtown plaza using a quarter-cent sales tax increase.

Under the latest revision, the City Center project would no longer include a parking garage.

The board meets at 8:30 a.m. in regular session but will reconvene after lunch at 2 p.m. to make a decision on the ballot item. Meetings are held in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. For more information, call 775-881-2100.

Other meetings this week:

• The Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee is hosting a public tour of the Carson River open space properties at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The group will meet in the Bonanza Room of the community center, and then they will board vans for the tour. For more information, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 775-887-2262.
